Daniel Radcliffe was forced to hide his delight as he unveiled the 2012 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) movie award nominations on Tuesday (17Jan12) because he wanted to "beam from ear to ear" as he revealed pal Gary Oldman's Best Actor nod.
The 22 year old co-hosted the announcement ceremony, and he ensured he kept a neutral expression as he revealed the nominees.
However, Radcliffe admits he is rooting for his Harry Potter co-star Oldman to win Best Actor for his role in espionage drama Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which is also nominated for Best Film.
He tells the Daily Telegraph, "I was just trying not to beam from ear to ear when I read Gary Oldman's name, that was my main mission.
"In terms of my favourites... Tinker Tailor, I'm obviously very excited for Gary and would love him to (win). You say you can't pick a favourite, yet somehow I have."
In an additional interview with British morning TV show Daybreak, he says, "It's very hard to sit here and say that one person deserves it more than somebody else, which is not the case, it's just that I am horribly biased because I know Gary and I love him and I want him to win."
Oldman faces stiff competition from George Clooney (The Descendents), Brad Pitt (Moneyball), Jean Dujardin (The Artist) and Michael Fassbender (Shame) for the Best Actor prize, while Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is pitted against The Artist, The Descendants, Drive and The Help for Best Film.
