Daniel Radcliffe was recently filmed at a karaoke bar and his performance is actually pretty incredible. Whilst most people may turn to Dolly Parton or any 80s power ballad they can find, the Harry Potter actor went in an entirely different direction: rap.

Radcliffe was filmed performing Eminem’s ‘The Real Slim Shady’ whilst enjoying a night out at a California Karaoke bar, Cameron’s Pub in Half Moon Bay. The British actor’s performance was recorded by a number of the pub’s patrons and a server at the bar has confirmed it was indeed Radcliffe.

Radcliffe was accompanied in his performance by his girlfriend, Erin Darke, who enthusiastically joined in during the chorus. Darke also provided some interesting dance moves in the background. Although her moves were also fairly impressive, her face was somewhat deadpan, making it slightly odd to watch!

We’ve known for some time that Radcliffe is a huge fan of rap music. In 2010, he performed ‘The Elements’ whilst appearing on The Graham Norton Show. The show, written by Tom Lehrer, involves reciting the periodic table to the tune of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Major-General from the Pirates of Penzance.

His interest in the genre has continues and, last year whilst appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Radcliffe revealed he is a big fan of Eminem. Radcliffe explained how he has an "obsession with memorizing complicated, lyrically intricate and fast songs.” He proceeded to show off his impressive rapping skills by performing ‘Alphabet Aerobics’ by Blackalicious.

After years of seeing Radcliffe as Harry Potter, it’s sometimes easy to forget he has a huge personality and a great sense of humour. Fortunately, he regularly reminds us and his karaoke antics are just the latest in a series of stunts he has been involved in. Only last week, Nylon magazine convinced Radcliffe to stand in for their receptionist for an hour. The experiment was an epic failure and Radcliffe declared it the “hardest thing he’d ever done”.
