Daniel Radcliffe talks about his own writing talents, using music to prepare for each scene and connecting with the Beat Generation in an interview for his new movie 'Kill Your Darlings' in which he plays famed poet Allen Ginsberg.
He reveals that he is also a budding writer. 'I do love writing; I want to write screenplays because I figure if I want to direct at some point it's probably easier to write something myself than to convince somebody else to give their work to a first time director', he explains. He also says that music is a big part of his preparation emotionally, revealing that he listened to a lot of 40s singer Jo Stafford while filming this movie. 'Her recordings of 'You Belong To Me' and 'No Other Love' are two songs that I used a lot for this film just because they're beautiful and incredibly sad', he says. He explains that the Beat poets are not as widely regarded back home in the UK so doing the film helped him to connect a lot more with the whole idea behind it.
