In this world the most dangerous thing is to be alive!
Horror director Jim Mickle follows his well received 2007 Zombie Movie 'Mulberry Street' with a heart stopping ride through a vampire infested America. Stake Land is set in a dark and bloody post-apocalyptic America, where an epidemic has left most of the population as bloodsucking vampires. The nation's cities are virtual graveyards and any human survivors are forced out into the countryside. Following the mutilation of his family Martin teams up with a hunter turned vampire slayer simply known as 'Mister'. The unlikely duo cross the blood soaked wasteland looking for a place to settle away from the vampires, along the way they are joined by a Nun in the midst's of a crisis of faith.
Stake Land is the vain of 'Grandfather of the Zombies' George Romero's breakthrough movies and it also echoes Danny Boyle's '28 Days Later' as well as John Hillcoat's chilling 'The Road'.
The film beat off bigger budgeted offerings to take the "Midnight Madness Award" at Toronto International Film Festival as well as 'Cadillac People's Choice Award'.
