Danny Boyle has issued a desperate plea for male performers in London to join his 2012 Olympic Games ceremonies after he was inundated with applications from female volunteers.
The Slumdog Millionaire director launched a casting call last month (Aug11) for 10,000 people to fill roles as dancers, actors and percussionists in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the upcoming Games.
But Boyle is still in need of a few good men - because the majority of applicants have been women.
He says, "The majority of applications so far are from women and I want to see an equal amount of men. So boys don't be shy!
"Whether you're from an arts groups, sports club or just an enthusiastic individual, we have a role for you in the ceremonies, an experience of a lifetime."
