Dave Grohl didn't recognise Lady GaGa at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) and accidentally reintroduced himself.
Gaga attended the awards ceremony as her chain smoking, quiff haired Alter Ego Jo Calderone on Sunday (28.09.11) and was so convincing, the Foo Fighters frontman didn't realise who she was when he went to say hello to Queen guitarist Brian May.
He told MTV: "I got to meet her for the first time tonight as Jo Calderone. I went over and was like, 'Brian May, what's up!' and she was right next to him and I said, 'Hi, I'm Dave,' and she goes 'I know who the f**k you are!' Yeah, it was rad."
Brian had earlier performed with Gaga, opening the ceremony with her track 'You and I'. She later picked up a new award, Best Video with a Message, for her track 'Born This Way', while Foo Fighters won Best Rock Video for the track 'Walk'.
Accepting the trophy Dave thanked the director and MTV, then told fans: "I just want to say: Never lose faith in real rock and roll music, you know what I mean? Never lose faith in that. You might have to look a little harder, but it's always going to be there."
