Dave Grohl has said his recent leg injury has been a ‘beautiful blessing in disguise’ for the Foo Fighters as they continue on their North American tour. The singer broke his leg last month when he fell off the stage during a gig in Gothenburg, Sweden, forcing the band to cancel their heading appearance at this year’s Glastonbury.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Grohl said "The shows we’ve been doing lately are our favourite shows that we’ve ever done. What seemed like a setback at the time has turned into this beautiful blessing in disguise, where this throne and these crutches and these audiences make us play longer and harder than we ever have. It’s this whole new energy in the show.”

"I think the spontaneity of this situation we’re in right now just brings out a smile in everyone,” the frontman added. The band made their return to the stage on July 4th, for a special concert at he Robert F Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington DC, celebrating their 20th anniversary. At the gig Grohl sat on a specially constructed throne which the singer had designed himself.

“The idea of the throne is just f–king ridiculous, especially for a band that has never relied on any kind of production at all,” Grohl said. “We usually just put the amps on the stage, turn on the lights, and play. Now we’ve got this throne that shoots lights and smoke out of it and looks like a f–king UFO with guitar necks stuck in it.”
