Fact: Landing a role in new one-night-only TV musical THE WIZ is a dream come true for funnyman David Alan Grier, because the Wizard of Oz spin-off was the first stageshow he saw on Broadway. The former In Loving Color regular has been cast as the Cowardly Lion in the new production after reaching out to director and friend Kenny Leon and asking to be a part of the show.

Fact: Three-time Tony Award nominee David Alan Grier has been cast to play the Cowardly Lion in the upcoming live TV musical THE WIZ. He joins Queen Latifah as the titular wizard and Mary J. Blige as Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West. The telecast will air in America in December (15), and bosses hope to transfer the show to Broadway for the 2016-17 season.
