David Beckham has been crowned People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2015, beating actors, musicians, models and fellow athletes. The 40-year-old dad of four was revealed as taking this year’s title during Tuesday’s edition of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, during which he showed off his trophy.

Speaking to the magazine, Beckham said: "It's a huge honour. And I'm very pleased to accept. I never feel that I'm an attractive, sexy person, I mean I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don't ever think of myself that way.”

When asked how wife Victoria Beckham and children Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10, and Harper, 4 reacted upon hearing the news, Beckham said: "We kind of laughed about it with the boys and the boys kind of laughed at me and said, 'Really?! Sexiest man alive? Really?’"

"Brooklyn was the one who was like, 'Are you sure it's not me that's meant to be there today?'" Beckham retired from professional football in 2013 and now devotes his time to charitable work and raising his four children.

He was revealed as this year’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’, during Tuesday’s edition of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’. On the show, Beckham was asked if he’d seen his cover yet. “I saw it about an hour ago for the first time. Yes, I have," he responded, adding, it was "the best moment of my career.”

"I would obviously like to thank my parents for bringing me into this world, of course. I would like to thank my hairdresser, my stylist,” Beckham continued. This year’s list also includes stars such as Chris Hemsworth, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum and Ryan Reynolds.
