David Beckham stars in a powerful new video campaign for charity UNICEF, which highlights the physical and psychological abuse inflicted upon millions of children.

In the video the former footballer’s tattoos come to life to depict the violence some children endure in what should be safe spaces, such as their homes and schools.

Beckham’s own tattoos are tributes to his four children, sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper. He also has inkings dedicated to wife Victoria Beckham including the number 99 on his little finger, representing the year they wed.

Sharing the video on Instagram, the father of four wrote: “Violence can mark children forever. I've met children with @unicef who have been affected by terrible violence and abuse and seen the long-lasting scars it can leave."
