British rocker David Bowie has long held an interest in reggae legend BOB MARLEY's son ZIGGY - because he was convinced the Jamaican singer was named after him.
But London native Bowie was disappointed to learn Ziggy's name had nothing to do with his Ziggy Stardust creation - but he did discover a coincidental twist with their monikers.
Ziggy explains of his name, "It's not a David Bowie reference. Every child in Jamaica has a nickname.
"Bowie himself came up to me in New York a couple of months ago and asked, 'How did you get the name Ziggy?' I said, 'My father gave it to me.' And he said, 'How long ago? When were you born?'
"I told him 1968, so he said, 'Oh, that was before me.' Then I told him, 'My name's also David.'
"So there we were - David and Ziggy."
