The Partridge Family star declared himself bankrupt in February (15), and in June (15), he was ordered to sell his luxury mansion in Fort Lauderdale as part of the legal proceedings.

The five-bedroom house, which boasts a swimming pool and a boat deck, is due to go under the hammer on 9 September (15) and Cassidy admits it will be hard to say goodbye to the place he has called home for the past 14 years, especially as he personally had a hand in its renovations over the years and has tended to its gardens.

However, the 65 year old, who is also in the process of a divorce, reasons to The Associated Press, "My soon-to-be ex-wife and I need to resolve our financial problems."

Cassidy hopes the new owners will take good care of the home and its grounds, including a fuchsia bougainvillea plant he helped to preserve, adding, "I put so much time and love and energy into this."
