Rick & The Governor Face Off For The Midseason Finale: 'The Walking Dead' Season 4, Episode 8 Recap – ‘Too Far Gone’

David Morrissey Andrew Lincoln Norman Reedus

The Walking Dead has reached the midway point of season four and after being reunited with old foes and faced with new threats from within and outside the prison walls, the midseason finale did hold a lot of promise. When it aired on AMC last night, on Sunday, 1 December, the coming together of Rick Grimes and our new friend Brian Heriot, AKA our old enemy The Governor, did not disappoint.

The Walking Dead
Not everyone will make it to the end

Heriot, as he goes by now, has assumed the position as alpha dog of another collection of people, people in desperate need of a leader, and he has plans for war. He leads them with a rallying call, preaching to the camp, “The people who destroyed the camp I was in with Martinez, they live in a prison… We could live there,” before showing off his spoils from last week; a captured Michonne and Hershel, currently being held hostage. Tara is the only one who seems surprised by this, did he capture two people on his lonesome, with no help or weaponry? But the Gov is able to feed her some cock and bull story about how he happened to bump into them and got lucky. Whatever he's feeding the camp, Michonne and Hershel could be key to gaining access to the prison, and without bloodshed perhaps too.

The Governor Back On 'The Walking Dead,' But What Can We Expect From His Return?

David Morrissey Andrew Lincoln

David Morrissey has won more than his fair share of fans for playing everyone's favorite character to hate on AMC's The Walking Dead. Last week, in the dying seconds of episode five (season four), we got our first glimpse of the returning Gov. and this week the entire episode was dedicated to the time he's spent between now and the end of season three, but we're still no closer to knowing what he wants.

The Governor and Rick will face off once again

Sitting down to speak with Rolling Stone, Morrissey digressed on what his character has been through and what he might want now that he is back in the frame in the series. Although unwilling to give too much away, Morrissey did give indications - similar to what we saw in last night's episode - that The Gov. may return as a changed man.

Zombies & The Flu Ravage Through 'The Walking Dead' In 'Internment' - Season 4, Episode 5 Recap

Andrew Lincoln David Morrissey Norman Reedus

In the latest episode of The Walking Dead, titled 'Internment,' it wasn't just the zombies threatening harmony within the prison walls as a deadly outbreak of influenza was seriously affecting much of the group and tensions were beginning to mount. There was also a huge surprise in store for us as we reached the end of the episode, as we saw the shadowy return of a former favourite. The rest of this story contains spoilers.

The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is back on track thanks to 'Internment'

The first thing we notice in 'Internment' is just how many sick people are draining the prisons' supplies from within the quarantine zone. With their numbers rising quick, its up to Hershel to work over time and ensure that he can save as many people as possible. But even for a guy with the patience of a saint, his wits are being run thin as the casualty numbers continue to rise and their conditions only seem to get worse. When we see our first flu-caused fatality die in Glenn's care, all whilst Glenn is having a coughing fit, we get to see just how serious things are. Things got even more worse when the deceased flu victims began to rewake as zombies (naturally) and climbed from their cells into the sick bay, making more zombies and placing Hershel and Glenn in grave danger.

'Internment' Intensifies Life In The Prison Even More: 'The Walking Dead' Season 4, Episode 5 Recap

David Morrissey Andrew Lincoln Norman Reedus

'Internment' is the latest episode of the Walking Dead and in a season where thrills and shocks were becoming more scarce in favour of pretty depressing story lines, episode five of the latest season was a much-needed shot in the arm. Twists were met with new shocks as 'Internment' and near-misses were met with genuine walker threats, and what's more,t here was a great little twist to cap off the episode. The rest of this article contains spoilers.

Morrissey's Autobiography To Become Audiobook, Read By...Morrissey

Morrissey David Morrissey

Morrissey sparked ample conversation last month when he finally released his long-awaited memoirs, titled Autobiography, through Penguin Classics. Over the weekend (on 3 Nov.) we learned that the book will be turned into an audiobook, with Moz being read by another Morrissey: actor David Morrissey.

The Liverpool-born The Walking Dead star was announced as the man to voice the memoirs through Morrissey fan site True to You, which has garnered a reputation for having a direct line to Mozza and generally being the go-to source for anything Morrissey related. A bluntly put statement posted to the website on Sunday, 3 November, read, "Penguin Classics will release a complete and unabridged digital download of Morrissey's Autobiography on 5 December 2013. The audiobook is read by acclaimed actor David Morrissey."

The Walking Dead Returns: '30 Days Without An Accident' Episode Recap

Andrew Lincoln Norman Reedus Steven Yeun Melissa McBride Lauren Cohan David Morrissey

The Walking Dead season four premiered on AMC on Sunday, 13 October, night and with this return there was an eerie calm over the people, as a sense of togetherness has developed over the period between the end of season three and here. As the title suggests, walkers have been scarce in numbers and devious characters have been keeping to themselves, but as detailed in our season four preview, there will be a whole new threat to the characters this season, one that is only just about to rear it's ugly head. The rest of this article contains spoilers.

Walking Dead
What could be i store for the characters this season?

The Woodbury people are still hemmed in at the prison and we see Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in the yard tending to his crops, zombies clawing at him from the other side of the gate. Finding a gun in the ground during his work, he tosses it aside like yesterday's newspaper. Still the same old Grimes. When Carl (Chandler Riggs) comes out to see his dad, who is this time tending to the prison yard pigs farm, Rick warns him not to name the pigs (Carl notices that "Violet" looks sick) as they are food.

David Morrissey Spearheading AMC's 'Line Of Sight,' Is This The End Of The Governor?

David Morrissey The Walking Dead

We all thought The Governor would die at the end of season three of The Walking Dead – we just did. Then he went berserk and killed a load of people – people, not zombies – and disappeared in a big scary truck. He’s not dead, and now we can’t wait for his return in season 4.

David MorrisseyThe excellent Morrissey is turning into AMC's main man

But there’s a caveat to all this; you see, when we find out about actors getting work in real life, we, as humans, do sums in our little heads – the cogs start turning and then someone goes, ‘hang on?’ David Morrissey is leading a new pilot for AMC’s Line of Sight, so, doesn’t that mean the Governor is going to be killed off early doors?

The Walking Dead Season 4 Trailer - "Manageable, But Not For Long"

Andrew Lincoln David Morrissey The Walking Dead

In the extended Walking Dead Season 4 trailer, let loose at Comic-Con 2013, we see a more hardened version of the survivors we’ve come to know and love. And as David Morrissey explained to io9, there’s a whole new threat to be wary of. From the trailer, we can deduce that the group (or probably Rick) decided that staying at the prison was best; they’ve built a farm and even have little piglets.

The opening scene sees Daryl using all his experience. “Just give it another second,” he says knowingly, presumably drawing walkers to him so they can loot wherever they’re residing. But how long can this last? Eventually, and we can only assume this is The Governor’s work, the group’s safety is compromised by someone feeding walkers near the gates, and attacking cell blocks.

The Walking Dead Season Four Preview - Have They Learned From Season Three's Mistakes?

Andrew Lincoln The Walking Dead Norman Reedus David Morrissey

For many, season three of The Walking Dead ended disappointingly. Early threats of ‘war is coming’ died down and with a damp squib, the run petered out with many of the conflicts and plot lines intact. Perfect for those who enjoy the moody exchanges between Rick and The Governor, but the season’s denouement did little for the show’s progression.

It wouldn’t be fair to judge season three entirely on its own merits, though – season four is looking like it’ll have a profound effect on peoples’ opinions on the last.

Welcome To The Punch Review

Good

After the tiny drama Shifty, British filmmaker Creevy turns to both Hong Kong and Hollywood for inspiration, creating an unusually glossy, explosive London cop thriller. But for all the sleek filmmaking and energetic action, the film struggles to make us care about characters who are dark and troubled. Their complexity is interesting, but not hugely engaging.

Adding to the visual sheen, the action is set among the gleaming glass and steel skyscrapers of Canary Wharf in East London, where detective Max (McAvoy) is still struggling to accept his inability to stop a heist three years earlier. The mastermind Jacob (Strong) managed to escape then, but he's back in town now, so Max is chomping at the bit to grab him. Max's lieutenant (Morrissey) tells him to back off, but he secretly works with his partner Sarah (Riseborough) to join the hunt. Meanwhile, Jacob teams up with an old pal (Mullan) to find out why one of the gang members (Harris) is on a murderous rampage. Which puts Jacob on a collision course with Max.

With so much full-on gunplay in a city where cops aren't actually armed, the film feels like it's set in some sort of parallel reality London. And Creevy augments this fantasy tone by indulging in shootouts that are sudden and brutal - like John Woo crossed with Michael Mann. The plot is full of clever twists, as motivations are revealed and a political conspiracy becomes apparent. It's all a bit convoluted and implausible, and the details are annoyingly murky, but within this premise the cast are able to find some emotional resonance.

The Walking Dead Episode 2 Recap: Where The Hell Is David Morrissey?

David Morrissey Andrew Lincoln

Sunday night's episode of 'The Walking Dead' was entitled 'Sick' - so we pretty much knew what we were in for. The second instalment of season three picked up after the premiere's abrupt cliff-hanger that saw Hershel bitten by a zombie, leading Rick (Andrew Lincoln) to perform an amateur leg amputation on the floor of the prison cafeteria. Nice.

In the concluding moments of that episode, the group discovered five mysterious figures hiding in the back of the room: more survivors. With both parties understandably cautious, guns were drawn, though Rick managed to calm the situation and convince the survivors that there are no hospitals, no cell phones and no national guard to help. Though it was a thrilling episode, we were left a little deflated by the lack of David Morrissey. The British star has signed on to play The Governor in the new series (a character considered one of the greatest comic book villains of all time) though is yet to appear. Show creator Robert Kirkman attempted to clear up the situation when speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, explaining, "People know that he's coming and that's something that's going to cause quite a bit of tension as viewers watch the episodes: When is he appearing, when is this going to happen? We've had a lot of fun teasing that and delaying that reveal but I will say we're not going to be torturing people for too long."

Though we're still waiting on episode two's ratings; the season premiere of The Walking Dead delivered a phenomenal 10.9 million viewers.

The Walking Dead Ready For Series 3

The Walking Dead is readying itself for series 3, which will hit screens later this month, and one thing is for sure is that there wont be any shortage of gore, guts and glory. So, for those who still can't wait any longer even though the airing date is looming ever closer, here's a few mini-spoilers of what can be expected for season 3.

First off the bat, will be the introduction of Michonne, who was first brought in to the show during the shocking finale of series 2. Michonne, played by Danai Gurira, will have her character dissected and background laid out for all to see, and whether she will prove to be an ally to Jack and the rest of the survivors from series 1 will have to be seen.

Also on offer to potentially hinder the advances of Jack, played by Andrew Lincoln, and his band of merry men and women will be the mysterious Governor David Morrissey.

Good
This British crime thriller is so unapologetic about recycling cliches that it's actually hilariously good fun to watch. Even with its glaring plot holes and camp performances, the cast and crew's chutzpah keeps it consistently entertaining.

Brant (Statham) is a bad-boy South East London detective always in trouble with the authorities. But he gets the job done, so his loyal chief (Rylance) protects him. His new challenge is to find a brazen psycho (Gillen) who's killing cops in cold blood. Working with new boss Nash (Considine), who's tormented for being gay, Brant starts bullishly breaking the rules to solve the case. Meanwhile, the killer is leaking information to a tabloid hack (Morrissey). And another of Brant's cop pals (Ashton) is struggling with returning to the job after her stint in rehab.

The Deal (2003) Review

Good
Relentlessly promoted as "The prequel to The Queen" on the DVD cover, this 2003 British TV production is seeing a curious reissue in order to capitalize on The Queen's Oscar attention last year, which saw Helen Mirren win a Best Actress Oscar and the film earn a Best Picture nomination.

The Deal is a prequel to The Queen only in the sense that it involves historical details that occurred before those in The Queen. It also involves the same writer, director, and star Michael Sheen, who also plays Tony Blair in this film. The movie involves succession to the position of British Prime Minister in the late 1990s, which found young guns Tony Blair and Gordon Brown both riding high in the liberal Labour Party, rapidly becoming the most popular party in the country and one which delivered a crushing defeat to the Conservative Party in the 1997 elections.

Terrible
Trouble sleeping? Try The Reaping. As Stephen Hopkins' sinfully boring devil dance continues creeping, at your watch you'll be peeping. By the time you reach the preposterous conclusion, where a sequel-establishing twist looms like a Biblical plague, for humanity you'll be weeping.

You'll need more than faith to accept the film's ridiculous premise, cooked up by sibling screenwriters Carey and Chad Hayes. These two can't distinguish between horrifying and horrible. They last collaborated on the dreadful House of Wax remake starring Paris Hilton. Enough said.
