Scottish actor David Tennant is "determined" to learn to play the piano after giving up lessons as a child.

The former Doctor Who star began experimenting with music when he was a pre-teen, but he spent less than a year practising, so he has now resumed tuition in a bid to conquer the instrument.

He tells the New York Times, "I recently started piano lessons. I took piano lessons when I was about 10 for six months. And inevitably because I was 10, I gave them up and ever since I've thought I should get back to that.

"Recently I did but then I had to go away filming so I've had three lessons and I don't know when I'm going to have the next one, but I'm determined. It's gonna happen."
