David Walliams has excitedly announced that he and his model wife Lara Stone are expecting their first child next year.

The 'Little Britain' star revealed the news to his fans on Twitter when he posted the following tweet: 'Some wonderful news. My beautiful wife Lara is pregnant. We are having a baby! It is due next year and we both couldn't be happier. Dx'. Lara is yet to comment on the news on Twitter but the couple, who married in 2010, have also posted a statement to the press. 'We're very excited to announce we are expecting our first child', it read. 'We're both absolutely thrilled but ask you to please respect our privacy during this precious time.'

Walliams has in recent times been acting as a judge on the popular variety talent show 'Britain's Got Talent' as well as writing various children's books with Roald Dahl illustrator Quentin Blake adding colour to them.  The soon-to-be-welcomed baby Walliams will have to compete for their parents' affections with the new puppy Bert who seems to have been spoiled rotten by the couple. 'A baby will probably never be as fun as Bert', Lara said in a previous interview about her future with David.
