Demi Lovato - The 18-year-old American actress Demi Lovato, will not be returning to her hit Disney series 'Sonny with a Chance'. Lovato recently completed a stint in rehab for "emotional and physical issues" and says she doesn't think reprising her role in the children's series would be "healthy", reports People Magazine.
The teen star recently returned to Los Angeles after spending three months of in-patient treatment at a rehabilitation centre. The actress says she now wants to move on with her career, adding, "It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music. It's kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended but there couldn't be a better time for me to move on. I don't think going back to Sonny would be healthy for my recovery". Lovato has the support of the Disney Channel, who released a statement saying, "We respect Demi's decision to focus fulltime on her music and not immediately return to her acting career". The actress rose to fame after starring in the 2008 movie 'Camp Rock' alongside the Jonas Brothers and landed a role on 'Sonny with a Chance' in 2010. The show will now be reinvented as a comedy sketch program called 'So Random!' which is scheduled to premiere in June 2011.
Demi Lovato first entered rehabilitation after unexpectedly leaving a tour with the Jonas Brothers. The star has now revealed that she "hit" a backup dancer working on the shows, telling ABC's Robin Roberts, "I take 100 per cent, full responsibility. I feel horrible. She was my friend".
