Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, following their appearance together in Los Angeles on Thursday (23rd January), have discussed their friendship with various media outlets. They both agree that, despite their fall out in 2010, they are closer than ever.

The pair dined together in West Hollywood on Thursday in Craig's, a popular restaurant with the Hollywood A-list. Gomez appeared unconcerned about her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber's arrest. However, Lovato admitted the issue did come up during their dinner. She said, during an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Friday night (24th January), that Gomez is "doing real well" after Bieber's arrest. However, Lovato was unwilling to divulge any further details, simply saying "Any advice I had for her, we talked last night and it's between us." She added, "We're really, really close," and "I love her so much."

Lovato also revealed to the talk show host that she felt the two "have an incredible friendship," a sentiment Gomez, in a recent interview with Seventeen magazine, echoed. Gomez described her friend as "very, very strong," and added "She's the only person that I would tell the deepest, darkest secrets to. The only person."

Gomez certainly needs a friend now and fortunately Lovato is around to help. Gomez has been the focus of media attention following the arrest of her ex-boyfriend Bieber. The couple began dating in November 2010 and after an on-and-off relationship finally split in January of last year. Despite the year apart, Gomez is often referenced whenever (and frequently) Bieber comes under scrutiny owing to his generally poor behaviour. Nevertheless it's not surprising when Gomez continues to reference their break-up in magazine interviews. Even in her latest interview with Seventeen, she described her split with Bieber as "really bad," as the Daily Mail reports. As such, perhaps Lovato's advice concerns avoiding attention from the press as opposed to emotional issues surrounding Gomez's dysfunctional ex-boyfriend.
