We've known that Demi Lovato will be appearing in the upcoming season of Glee for a while now, but it wasn't until the recent MTV Video Music Awards that we found out exactly what she'll be doing. It turns out that the former Disney star will be playing the love interest of Naya Rivera's Santana character during her time on the show, which can only be good news right?

Demi will only appear in the show for a limited run

Rivera let it slip that Demi, who will be playing a character called Dani during her limited run on the show, will be appearing as her love interest during her time with Glee, which will return to Fox next month.

She was speaking with MTV News on the red carpet for the Sunday (25 August) awards show, telling reporters, She's playing my love interest, so I'm very, very excited about that." The actress went on to say, "We get to sing a song together. It's gonna be good. I'm excited to work with her. We're bringing her to the dark side," adding, "Well, she comes in in a Beatles episode, so [we're singing] a Beatles song. I'm excited."

Lovato is also clearly excited about the prospect of working with the Glee cast, and tweeted about her excitement towards returning to acting earlier this week. She tweeted, "I can't believe I'm going back to acting but the best part about it is that I get to act/sing with some of my really great friends."

There will be more to Glee than lesbians and the Beatles this season, with Demi's introductory Beatles-themed episode being followed by the Cory Monteith tribute episode on October 10. Speaking of the episode dedicated to Monteith, who tragically passed away in July, she said, "We've been shooting it. It's horrible. So many, so many [memories]. He was an amazing guy and I definitely miss him."

Glee season 5, which was pushed back because of Monteith's passing, will air on Thursday, September 26.
