Denise Richards says she is trying to protect her two children from the recent incident involving her ex-husband Charlie Sheen. The 45-year-old actor, who is the father of Sam and Lola, admitted himself for a psychiatric evaluation yesterday (26th October 2010) after causing a disturbance at the New York Plaza hotel.
Richards, who was staying at the hotel at the time of the incident, told CNN's Joy Behar that she knows what happened to Sheen, but would rather not discuss it. The Hollywood actress said, "I'd rather leave that for Charlie to discuss, if that's something he wants to do, because that's something very personal and private. The thing is that my daughters are 5 and 6, and they're at an age where they can start to understand".
Before the incident, Sheen had been spending time with Richards and their children, and the four visited the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The actress said that, despite last night's drama, the couple are generally getting on well, saying, "We're in an amazing place. We've been getting along great for the last year-and-a-half, and we're doing our best. So as far as that situation, I'm just trying to protect the girls from it as much as possible".
