Washington and Viola Davis played a married couple in the 2010 revival of August Wilson's drama about race relations in the U.S. - and both picked up Tony Awards, while the production was named Best Revival of a Play.

And now, Davis tells The New York Times she and Denzel are reuniting for a film version of the play, saying, "They are making Fences, August Wilson’s play, into a feature that Denzel Washington is directing and I’m going to be in."

Hollywood executives first considered a movie version of Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play back in 1990, but the playwright, who died in 2005, would only give his consent of a black director was hired to lead the project.
