The stars turned out this week for the world premiere of 2 Guns, the new action movie that teams up Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. Both actors were on the red carpet in New York along with the film's Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur and costars including James Marsden and Bill Paxton. Musicians Robin Thicke and 50 Cent also turned up to see the film, which will have its international premiere in London next week.

The next evening, at New York's Museum of Modern Art, there was a star-packed premiere screening for Lovelace, the biopic of Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace, played by Amanda Seyfried. She was on hand to face the fans - and the paparazzi - along with a glamorous Sharon Stone, who plays her mother in the movie. Arrivals also included costars Peter Skarsgard, Adam Brody, Chris Noth, Debi Mazar and Hank Azaria.

Four big films open in the UK this weekend: Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy team up for The Heat, which is likely to repeat its American box office triumph in Britain. Counter-programming includes the old-school horror movie The Conjuring, another US hit, as well as the all-star retired assassins action comedy RED 2 and Ryan Gosling and Kristen Scott Thomas in the grisly arthouse thriller Only God Forgives. Meanwhile, American audiences get a chance to see Lindsay Lohan in her comeback movie The Canyons. The most talked-about trailer of the week is for Ben Stiller's remake of , the classic 1947 comedy starring Danny Kaye. With a strong cast including Kristen Wiig, Sean Penn, Shirley MacLaine and Adam Scott, the film looks like an eye-catching effects epic about a man whose daydreams take over his life. We also got a series of seven preview clips from the comedy We're the Millers, starring Jason Sudeikis as a guy who hires a stripper (Jennifer Aniston) and a couple of juvenile delinquents (Will Poulter and Emma Roberts) to play his family as he embarks on a dangerous drug-running trip to Mexico in order to repay his debt to a gangster. And finally, we had our first teaser trailer for Johnny Knoxville's Bad Grandpa, a spin-off from the Jack-Ass franchise in which Knoxville wears extensive make-up to play an 86-year-old who causes havoc everywhere he goes. Like Borat, it combines improvised gags with a fictional plot. It opens in October and, yes, it looks ridiculous. you should have a look at the teaser trailer.
