The heir to the throne, who is president of the Royal College of Music, presented the veteran singer with the special award on Thursday (12Mar15), more than 30 years after she sang at his wedding to the late Diana, Princess Of Wales.

Te Kanawa says, "I am delighted and thrilled to be honoured in this way by the Royal College of Music, especially as the honour is being conferred by The Prince of Wales himself".

Conductor/composer, Vladimir Ashkenazy was also handed a honorary doctorate at the ceremony in London, while actor Edward Fox was made an honorary member of the college.
