Fact: LAURA DERN has stepped in to accept a top honour on behalf of her mum Diane Ladd after the movie veteran realised she would be on location shooting a film when the award was bestowed upon her. Bosses at the Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation have announced Chinatown star Ladd will be the recipient of their Mary Pickford Award at the upcoming Heroes of Hollywood luncheon on 28 May (15), but the actress won't be in Hollywood for the gala, so her daughter has agreed to be the guest of honour.
