Dionne Warwick believes ''God has a plan for everybody''.

The 'Walk On By' hitmaker, whose late cousin Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina has been unconscious for four months after being discovered face down in a bath, believes God plans when it's time for someone to die.

She said: ''God has a plan for everybody, for better or different. Of course, any death within my family is a very difficult thing, no matter who it is.

''You're losing a part of you. Everybody that's gone before me has taken a part of me with them.''

The 74-year-old singer also opened up about the death of Whitney, who drowned in a bathtub in 2012 after suffering a heart attack, saying she felt like she ''lost a part of herself'' when she passed away, aged 48.

She admitted: ''I felt like I lost a part of me when Whitney left me.''

However, while her passing was a ''very difficult thing'' for her to deal with, the soul singer acknowledged the star's drug problem was ''Whitney's choice'' and contributed to her death.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''But there was nothing that anyone could have done. That was Whitney's choice, unfortunately, and that was also the plan. That was God's plan.

''She was relieved of all the anxiety and traumas being plagued upon her.''
