Disney have announced palns to release a new video game based on the groundbreaking and ever-popular movie Fantasia, with the movie powerhouse teaming up with games developers Harmonix (who were behind Rock Band) for Fantasia: Music Evolved. The game won't be an exact take on the film however, rather an interactive music-based game that gives player the chance to mix music and dashes of colour like Mickey Mouse does in the 1940 (yes it's that old) film.

The game is set to be released on both the X Box and the follow-up console X Box One, relying on the motion-sensing technology used by the Kinect attachment. The game works by making players move their arms in rhythm to the on-screen commands and symbols that dictates the music and tests whether you have what it take to be an anthropomorphic mouse magician. Players will also be able to augment and remix existing tracks pre-uploaded to the game and make your own orchestral compositions with just a swing of your arms.

In fact, bosses at Harmonix have stated that the game will have a strong emphasis on the 'freestyle' element of the music-making progress, which will allow players to further distort and augment tracks for their own amusement, whilst also retaining a story-like element that will allow players to advance through levels and increase the difficulty of the song-making progress. Once a song is completed, the finished product spills across the environment you are playing in and brings it ' back to life.'

Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody, Bruno Mars' 'Locked Out Of Heaven,' 'Levels' by ACIVII, Kimbra's 'Settle Down' and 'Some Nights' by Fun. are some of the tracks said to feature on the game, with more to be added to the finished product.

Fantasia: Music Evolved is slated for a 2014 debut and in the meantime you can enjoy the game's first trailer, which you can watch at the top of the page.
