Tv Executives Are Developing A Doctor Who Spin-off Series Aimed At Young Adults.
The eight-episode show, titled Class, is set in modern-day London at Coal Hill School, where the Time Lord's travelling companion, Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Coleman, teaches.
"Incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space, and with darkness coming, London is unprotected," a statement from BBC Three reads. "This is Coal Hill School and Doctor Who like you've never seen them before."
The series is slated to begin filming in Wales early next year (16).
Jenna recently announced she is quitting Doctor Who after three years playing the Time Lord's travelling companion.
She started off working with Matt Smith in 2012, and stayed with the show when Peter Capaldi took over the title role a year later (13).
After confirming her departure, Jenna also admitted she stole a special prop as a memento before filming her final scenes.
"A couple of months before leaving I realised I have nothing, I have no souvenirs," she explained. "I hear lots of things about people leaving Harry Potter and they can take their wands or their cloaks... so I found a clockwork squirrel, so I've taken that... It's just something that's in the tardis, so I took that and I also took my tardis key, so I can get back in! It's a Yale lock that probably fits no lock, ever... but symbolically, I've stolen the key."
Jenna will leave the show when the current season wraps up over Christmas (25Dec15).
