Hailing from Montreal, Doldrums has recently released a spellbinding three track single, 'Egypt', earlier this month on Berlin based record label Soutterrain Transmissions (EMA, Crocodiles, Zola Jesus, Moon Duo). He will also embark on a European tour with unique dream pop artist Grimes including appearances at Brighton's Great Escape Festival and Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester's Dot to Dot Festival after immense success at Texas' SXSW Festival.
'Copper Girl' is the B-side to 'Egypt'. The accompanying video has a warped, multi-coloured, hallucinogenic effect about it that matches the surreal electronic sounds and slow, rhythmic bass lines perfectly. Coupled with the androgynous, high pitched and drawn out vocals of producer Airick Woodhead, this track is a brilliant infusion of chaos and passion.
Redefining Montreal's noise scene, title track 'Egypt' is a similarly hypnotic tune that is definitely more ambitious and more refined than his previous work in music. However, his 2011 cover of Bristolian trip hop band Portishead's 'Chase the Tear' impressed them so much that they released it as a B-side to their single.
Doldrums has previously released a debut EP entitled 'Empire Sound' that was released on London indie record label No Pain In Pop.
