Johnny Depp regularly visits hospitals and schools in his Costume Jack Sparrow costume. Children are delighted to meet the Pirates of the Caribbean character in person and Depp ensures he travels everywhere with his outfit, just in case there's a hospital or school nearby.

Speaking to E! in 2013, Depp explained how he enjoys improvising as his much beloved character and frequently visits children in hospitals and schools. He said "Sometimes you go to kiddie hospitals and things like that," "I'll just sneak in and go and surprise a bunch of kiddies through the different wards. It basically turns into a two, three-hour improvisation and it's really fun. So I travel with Captain Jack."
