The 9 to 5 hitmaker signed a development deal with bosses at the NBC network to executive produce a number of stand alone movies based on her life and music, and details of the first project have been announced.

The film, also called Coat of Many Colors, is set to tell the story of Parton's upbringing inspired by the 1971 autobiographical track about her mother creating a jacket from rags, which Parton is later ridiculed for when she wears it to school.

The film is set to air as part of NBC's 2015-2016 season.

Parton may star in some of the film series and her songs will be used in each one.
