Donatella Versace wants fashion designers to work as a ''family''.

The 60-year-old Vice President of Versace has insisted she wants to see her fellow designers and fashion models join forces rather than compete against each other and create a ''global community''.

Donatella - who was recently appointed the face of Givenchy by her ''dear friend'', creative director Ricardo Tisci - made the claim alongside an image of her starring in the label's autumn/winter 2015 campaign, which she posted on her Instagram account.

She wrote: ''I believe in breaking rules. Riccardo Tisci is extremely talented and above all my dear friend. We are family. I want to get rid of the old system, work together, support each other and make fashion a true global community.''

Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz has previously said he wants the fashion industry to ''collaborate'' more too.

He said: ''We are living in an industry that is always about the next thing: who is the next person? It should be more about collaborating, working together, taking the best of each world.''

Donatella was unveiled as the star of the label's ads in April, with Riccardo posting a black and white shot of himself and the fashionista peering over each other's shoulders on the picture sharing site.

He wrote: ''So proud and honored to introduce my new ultimate icon : Donatella Versace....FW 15 Givenchy Family Campaign.

''MORE TO COME SOON! (sic)''
