Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre shot to the top of the charts in the U.K. last week (ends14Aug15), but missed out on a Billboard 200 number one thanks to country star Luke Bryan's new release, Kill The Lights.

Dr. Dre has never had a number one album in America and he released his latest effort, inspired by the hit N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, by insisting it would be his final album.

The set sold an impressive 295,000 in its debut week - 50,000 less than Bryan's Kill The Lights, which records the biggest release for a country act in three years.

Dre won't be too unhappy with the number two spot - the N.W.A. film became America's hottest ticket at cinemas over the weekend, recording the highest-grossing opening for a biopic ever. Straight Outta Compton almost doubled expectations and debuted with $56 million (£35 million).

Meanwhile, the Now 55 compilation lands at number three on the Billboard 200 and Christian rapper TobyMAC debuts This Is Not a Test at four with 38,000 copies sold. Taylor Swift's 1989 rounds out the new top five.
