The victim, who is aged 27, was taken to East Surrey Hospital for treatment but because of "potentially life changing injuries" from the corrosive liquid he was later transferred to the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead for specialist care, according to the BBC.
A Sussex police spokesman said, “It is thought the incident may have started when the victim and another man, 29, also from Redhill, were watching Straight Outta Compton in the cinema.”
“This was an isolated but nevertheless nasty and unprovoked assault,” D S Laura Diamond of Crawley CID added. D S Diamond also appealed to anyone who may have seen an altercation either within the cinema or later in the car park outside to contact police.
One of the attackers is describing as having dark short hair and a beard and was wearing a bag across his shoulder at the time. The other was wearing a white or light grey hooded top and jeans.
