Dreamworks boss JEFFREY KATZENBERG stunned the press at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL - by apologising for critically-panned Ben Stiller comedy ENVY.

The studio head was attending the French event to introduced upcoming animation Shark Tale, but before showing clips of the new movie, he made the astonishing comment.

Katzenberg told the audience of journalists, "I apologize profusely for Envy."

The film - which teams the MEET THE PARENTS star with funnyman Jack Black - has suffered terrible reviews in Katzenberg's native America and is a box office flop.
