Ed Sheeran says One Direction will be able to hide it when they're struggling with fame.

The 'Sing' hitmaker has dismissed the idea he would ever talk about life in the spotlight with members of the 'Best Song Ever' boy band, but he's sure when it gets too much, they do the same as him and don't let it show.

He told the Mail on Sunday newspaper's EVENT magazine: ''When I see them - the last time I saw all of them was last year at the MTV Video Music Awards , but I see Harry [Styles] quite a lot - I don't counsel them.

''We have a drink and some fun. Whenever I see them, they're fine, but I have times where I don't handle things very well and I mask it, and I'm sure they can mask it as well.

''I don't have any of the frustrations that they might have, because they have to make decisions as five, whereas I'm my own man. That's the balance they have to get.''

Meanwhile, Ed opened up about his celebrity friendship with Courteney Cox, and admitted he stays at her home ''pretty much every time'' he visits Los Angeles, and he insisted it just happened by accident.

He added: ''With Courteney, you don't really ask. She's a southern girl, pure Alabama, so she's very much 'the hostess with the mostess'.

''She's very warm and friendly, and wants to give to everyone. She lets people stay, cooks dinner, shows an interest in what they're doing.

''So it's not so much forcing yourself, or her asking you, you're just there. Pretty much very time I go to LA now that's where I stay.''
