The 37-year-old underwent surgery last month to remove a tumour in her abdomen. Although the tumour wasn't cancerous, it was a necessary procedure as the doctors were concerned it could have caused serious complications. Hasselbeck explained: "I had a tumour in my abdomen, Doctor said, 'You've got to get it out by the end of the month. We don't like how it looks.' I was facing something that potentially could have gone either way."

Jenny McCarthy Thinks Rosie O'Donnell's Return To "The View" Is Just What The Doctor Ordered

Jenny McCarthy Rosie ODonnell Sherri Shepherd Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Since the first mention of Rosie O’Donnell for one of the free chairs on The View next season, controversy has raged. Not because of O’Donnell’s presence, ethical or political beliefs, mind you, or at least not directly. Mostly, it was based on O’Donnell’s minor disagreement with former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, which led Hasselbeck to publicly slam O’Donnell on her return announcement. Hasselbeck that O’Donnell “spit in the face of our military” and “the face of her own network”. Since then, O’Donnell has found a supporter in the face of Sherri Shepherd, who is leaving The View next season and most recently, in fellow comedian, actress and host, Jenny McCarthy.

Jenny McCarthy
McCarthy voiced her enthusiastic endorsement this week.

McCarthy had some particularly kind words for her colleague and felt that The View would benefit from the new addition.

Rosie ODonnell Elisabeth Hasselbeck Joy Behar

Wait, what’s happening over on The View? This is meant to be our relaxing daytime viewing, but recently, after the rumoured appointment of Rosie O’Donnell to the panel, daggers have been flying – in the form or some uncalled for comments.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Hasselbeck wasn't really enjoying the view after O'Donnell's tentative return.

It all started with the tentative plans to bring O’Donnell back to The View. When the announcement was made earlier that week, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a former host of the ABC panel show and current Fox News contributor, interrupted her vacation for the sole purpose of calling in to Fox & Friends with some rather harsh words for her former co-host.

View From The Top: Jenny McCarthy's Opinions On Vaccines Take Center-Stage

Jenny McCarthy Elisabeth Hasselbeck Joy Behar

Jenny McCarthy's anti-vaccine views have been cast into the spotlight once more after the former Playboy model and actress was named as the replacement for Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar on The View. McCarthy's son Evan was diagnosed with autism back in 2005, while her marriage to director John Mallory Asher ended shortly afterwards.

The problem is, McCarthy did the rounds on America's biggest television shows at the time, claiming vaccinations caused her son to develop autism - this despite there being a minimal evidence to support such a claim.

In fact, the only real study that linked the administration of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR) with autism was undertaken by Andrew Wakefield. The British surgeon has since been banned from practicing medicine in the United Kingdom.

Politically conservative Hasselbeck was respected by TV network ABC, who said that in her time as co-host she had brought "her passion and strong beliefs to The View" and "stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table." She will replace Gretchen Carlson who has co-hosted Fox & Friends alongside Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, and who will now go on to anchor her own one hour show that will begin being broadcast this Fall.

Barbara Walters Elisabeth Hasselbeck Joy Behar

Barbara Walters has attempted to placate the intense rumors concerning 'The View,' with the veteran broadcaster insisting Elisabeth Hasselbeck will not be leaving the show despite reports that suggest her outspoken conservative views is putting off viewers. Deadline.com, Us Weekly and the Hollywood Reporter all report that Hasselbeck's contract will not be renewed, though Walters is adamant the 35-year-old will remain on the show.

"There is a particularly false story that keeps getting picked up about Elisabeth's alleged departure, saying that we don't approve of her conservative views," Walters, who created the long-running talk show, said on Monday's program. (March 11, 2013) "The truth is we love Elisabeth. I like her personally and she's just a wonderful person. But beyond that, we value and appreciate her point of view, it's important to us because Elisabeth helps give the show perspective and balance. So we have no plans for Elisabeth to leave."

ABC had previously released a statement saying that Hasselbeck "is a valued member of The View and had a long-term contract," though failed to address the issue of whether or not she will be offered a renewed deal. The controversial presenter joined the show in 2003 and became known for her heated arguments with liberal co-host Rosie O'Donnell.

Was Chris Brown Twitter Spat "Verbal Rape"? The View Think So

Chris Brown Whoopi Goldberg Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Say what you want about Chris Brown … no, seriously, say what you want about Chris Brown. Nothing is too harsh for a man whose malevolent glint in his eyes is but scientific proof away from being the pin point of a black hole through which all human decency in the western world is currently falling through. The unrepentant women-beater of course left Twitter over the weekend, following a spat with comedy writer Jenny Johnson which saw him write at one point: “take them teeth out when u Sucking my d**k H-E."

Johnson did start it, but in all honesty you’re not going to find anyone at Contact feeling for Brown who has achieved the quite extraordinarily despicable feat of turning the events of three years ago –where he assaulted Rihanna for around 45 minutes on the eve of the Grammys - into a marketing strategy to get him more attention than ever. Anyway, with the artist who no one of any good taste should refer to as Breezy now off Twitter, it was left to – for the purposes of this story – the women of The View to give their thoughts on the spat.

"I think it's disgusting, first of all," Elisabeth Hasselbeck said, according to E! Online "But also, it seems like verbal rape to me. And I think at some point there's gotta be a point where Twitter should ban anyone who writes anything forever on there and you should identify yourself." Whoopi Goldberg disagreed with the term “verbal rape”, saying that they were both verbally assaulting each other and adding "I have to say, if you're gonna mess with him [Brown], you have to expect to get your head handed to you.” And how might he do that, Whoopi? By strangling you with a seat belt whilst pummelling your ribcage? The Mayan apocalypse takes place on December 21, 2012, hopefully.
