The couple have been engaged since March 2013 after a 2 year on-and-off relationship. The couple, according to US Weekly, dated for two years until March 2012 when they separated. Their romance was revived in November 2012 following a helicopter accident in which Soffer was injured.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, an insider speaking to the paper shortly after the helicopter crash said: "Elle is landing in Miami imminently to visit him and offer her support at a very tough time." It is believed this incident prompted the couple to rekindle their romance.

Billionaire Soffer is a "real estate tycoon", according to the New York Daily News, with a number of hotels including the Fontainebleau Hotel in Florida.

It is believed the couple will continue to reside in Miami, Florida where Soffer is based. Macpherson has previously resided in London and, according to reports, she is in the process of permanently relocating to the US.
