It's always reassuring to hear when a star is going through the exact same things as a regular person, especially when it comes down to mental health issues. Ellie Goulding has candidly opened up about her own struggles with anxiety, and how it affects her day-to-day life and even career.

The 29-year-old singer has recently been talking about undergoing therapy to help deal with her crippling panic attacks. It wasn't something she'd ever thought about doing, and indeed at first she wasn't totally convinced by the idea of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT, but it was something she thought was necessary as she floundered during the release of her most recent album 'Delirium'.

'I was skeptical at first because I'd never had therapy, but not being able to leave the house was so debilitating. And this was when my career was really taking off', she told Flare magazine, revealing her struggles during the promotion of the album. 'My surroundings would trigger a panic attack, so I couldn't go to the studio unless I was lying down in the car with a pillow over my face. I used to beat myself up about it.'

These days, though, she finds herself better equipped to dealing with such uncomfortable and frightening moments. 'There were a couple of times after I released 'Delirium' when I was doing promo and thought, 'Oh god, it's coming back, it's coming back', but it didn't. I think my body has become quite good at controlling anxiety', she said.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a type of counselling that focuses on changing the way you think about situations and how you react to them.

Other celebrities that have previously confessed to having struggled with anxiety include Demi Lovato, Dave Grohl, Lady Gaga, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Taylor Swift, Adele and Amanda Seyfried.
