Veteran actor Elliott Gould fell out with television bosses when he gave away Friends' famous wedding cliffhanger before it aired at the end of season four.

Gould, who played the father of ROSS and EMILY in the smash TV show, infuriated chiefs at American network NBC when he talked about how DAVID SCHWIMMER's Ross accidentally blurted out 'RACHEL' at the altar when he was getting married to EMILY, played by Helen Baxendale.

The 65-year-old says, "I made an error in letting the cat out of the bag in terms of Rachel having shown up at the wedding.

"The executive producer was very, very upset with me. Nobody had told me to keep my mouth shut, but it wasn't my business. It took a while for me to get back in their good graces."

Despite his mistake, Gould still considers the episode - filmed in London - his favourite.
