According to his official website, Sir Elton John has been forced to pull out of his current tour of Europe with immediate effect. The legendary singer was diagnosed with appendicitis after falling ill during his European tour, forcing the singer to pull out of his tour and immediately undergo medical intervention.

As stated in in the statement on his website, he is currently taking "intensive antibiotics" and will receive an surgery on his appendix "in the coming weeks."

The statement went on to state that Elton had fallen ill and underwent a series of "exploratory scans and blood tests with his medical team in the UK."

Elton was due to Sir Elton had been due to play a number of shows in Germany, Italian festival and a show at London's Hyde Park this week. He also has a number of tour dates lined-up for the fall, including a two month long residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vega from September to the end of October and a number of shows before hand, including a headlining slot at Bestival at the Isle of Wight, two shows in Germany and a show in Leeds, UK, at the city's newly opened arena.

The statement on his website went on to say that John would not be return to touring until he had fully recovered from both the planned surgery and any damage caused to his appendices. It does state that he hopes to go on with the shows lined-up in the fall, but should any complications arise he will obviously have to re-consider performing.
