Elvis Presley's spiritual guru SRI DAYA MATA has died in Los Angeles, aged 96.
Presley met Daya Mata, the president of the Self-Realization Fellowship, in Los Angeles in the 1960s and often called on her for advice and guidance.
Reports suggest Elvis occasionally meditated with Daya Mata and used to call her Ma.
A statement from Hindu statesman Rajan Zed reads, "It is with a great sense of loss that we bid goodbye to Daya Mata, who was an inspiration... She touched many lives on the spiritual journey. She nobly fulfilled her spiritual responsibilities with phenomenal spiritual strength and was a spiritual mother to many."
An ex-Mormon, Daya Mata was born Faye Wright in 1914. She held the position of SRF president for 55 years. A public memorial service for her will be held on 12 December (10) in Pasadena, California.
