Eric Clapton is to lend his slowhand to one of his heroes by appearing on legendary bluesman Buddy Guy's latest album.

Guy commands massive respect among his fellow blues and rock musicians, with performers such as Clapton, Jeff Beck and the Rolling Stones all acknowledging their debt to his distinctive guitar style.

The 71-year-old's forthcoming album SKIN DEEP will be released on July 22nd and will feature Clapton on a track entitled Every Time I sing the Blues, reports Uncut.

Clapton told Musician magazine back in 1985: "Buddy Guy was to me what Elvis was for others.

"Buddy Guy is by far and without a doubt the best guitar player alive... If you see him in person, the way he plays is beyond anyone. Total freedom of spirit, I guess… He really changed the course of rock and roll blues."

Clapton recorded RIDING WITH THE KING, collaboration with another legendary bluesman Bb King in 2000.
