Irish born singer songwriter Eugene McGuinness (frontman of Eugene + the Lizards) has unleashed the video for his latest jazz-esque indie single 'Sugarplum' due for release on December 10th 2012 through Domino records and taken from his second full-length solo album 'The Invitation to the Voyage'.
The video is simple, featuring the smartly dressed singer crooning his heart out on the rooftop of a high rise office block in London. Although almost featureless apart from a collection of red balloons floating in the sky, the simplicity of the video allows the audience to fully grasp the heart of the song; it's meaningful and romantic lyrics, it's irresistibly catchy chorus and it's toe-tappingly flawless rhythm. It's a wonderful track about being young and feeling liberated in life and truly represents the youth culture of today.
McGuinness has enjoyed several UK gigs this month (not to mention throughout the year) rounding off with a hugely popular performance close to his home in London at the 100 Club. He has also performed this inspiring track on Gordon Smart's online music show 'This Feeling' where he also discussed his best and worst gigs ever as well as naming 'Sugarplum' as his greatest achievement so far.
