Eva Longoria Parker is divorcing her husband Tony Parker with "great sadness".

The 'Desperate Housewives' actress - who only said in September the pair were "very much" in love with each other - took to twitter to announce her split from the basketball player after just over three years of marriage, but claimed the pair were "praying" for each other.

She wrote: "It is with great sadness that after 7 years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce. We love each other deeply and pray for each other's happiness."

Eva filed legal separation papers Tony at Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday (17.11.10).

According to court papers, Eva wants to divorce Tony over "irreconcilable differences".

Eva, 35, is seeking spousal support from Tony, 28, and is also asking for her maiden name to be restored. The court documents also state that the date of the separation is still to be determined.

The pair - who got engaged in November 2006 - had a fairytale wedding on July 7, 2007, tying the knot in front of guests at the Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte - a 17th Century castle located on the outskirts of Paris, France.
