Eva Mendes is planning to ''bombard'' her mother with love next weekend.

The 41-year-old actress, who has seven-month-old daughter Esmeralda with boyfriend Ryan Gosling, isn't planning to do anything special for her first Mother's Day - which takes places in the US next Sunday (10.05.15) - because her own mother, Eva Perez Suarez, has ''had a really hard year'' as her brother is battling cancer.

Asked how she will be celebrating the occasion, she told 'Access Hollywood Live': ''There is no plan. I kind of feel like I haven't quite earned my stripes yet in a way. She's seven months [old].

''This Mother's Day is definitely all about my mom. She's had a really hard year. My brother's sick, so it's all about my mom, honouring her. We're all going to go over to her house and bombard her with love.''

A source previously revealed to Star magazine that the 'Training Day' actress - who spoke about her brother, Juan Carlos, when she appeared at a Stand Up To Cancer event in January - was ''devastated'' when he was diagnosed with cancer and was doing everything she could to help him.

The insider added: ''She is such a family-oriented person, this is absolutely devastating. She is pulling out all the stops and making sure Carlos has the best doctors available. Eva feels money is no object when it comes to Carlos' health.''
