Scottish actor Ewan McGregor is helping attract more visitors to his hometown by filming a promotional video to boost tourism.

The Trainspotting star has narrated a short film about the market town of Crieff in his native Scotland in a bid to encourage more tourists to visit the area, and in the promo, he points out places of interest and describes the region's main attractions.

The video, which has been posted on YouTube.com, was organised by officials at the Crieff and Strathearn Tourism Association, and spokesman Stuart MCLaren insists he was delighted when MCGregor agreed to take part.

He tells British newspaper the Daily Record, "It's fantastic that Ewan has supported this project."
