Fabolous hits back with his new single ‘Breathe’. He still shows his easy laid back MC flow that suits well with the feel of this track. It doesn’t really hit hard on the street tip; it’s more mellow and groovy with an ever so slight gangster vibe. It creates quite an emotive track that captures an essence of what Nas does. The lyrical content to me doesn’t grab you with the energy that real hard hitting hip hop does. He’s got pace and feeling that could appeal to some. The music is well orchestrated and it has a big sound, especially due to
the piano samples. It not heavy enough to be punchy but it grabs that street hip hop sound and kinda’ makes it acceptable for popular airplay.
‘Breathe’ has commercial appeal and it’s pretty slick. It didn’t seem to stretch my conscience or stand out however this track is an easy to digest hip hop track that is unobtrusive and could be cool for some kids.
