Fatboy Slim's Festival Poop Fear

Fatboy Slim Michael Eavis

Fatboy Slim refused to eat for four days at the Glastonbury Festival because he didn't want to poop in the toilets.

The DJ - whose real name is Norman Cook - made his 16th consecutive live appearance last month at Michael Eavis' music event, which is held at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England, but he has admitted, despite his experience, he avoided food so he didn't have to do his business in the less than lavish facilities.

He told the Observer Food Monthly magazine: ''Hunger is good on stage. Once we did four days at Glastonbury without any food passing our lips.

Drunken shenanigans at the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ production wrap party in London’s Soho this week, as married presenter Zoe Ball was snapped locking lips with a boyband member half her age on the dancefloor.

45 year old Zoe, who presents the BBC2 spin-off show ‘It Takes Two’, has been married to DJ Norman Cook (who of course goes by the stage name Fatboy Slim) for 16 years, and has two children with him – 15 year old Woody and five year old Nelly.

David Byrne's "Here Lies Love" Offers Fresh Take On Imelda Marcos's Familiar Story

David Byrne Fatboy Slim

David Byrne’s Here Lies Love is loud, glamorous and exposes the sins of a culture – what more could you ask for?

The musical, now playing on the stage of the New York Public theatre, focuses on the life and excesses of Imelda Marcos, the shoe-crazed wife of ex-Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos. The parallels between this character and the imfamous Eva Peron are obvious – the influential wife of a dictator role is common to both – but the tone and style of Here Lies Love make the comparison to Evita an impossible one. First released as a double-disc 2010 song cycle album conceived by David Byrne, who wrote the lyrics, collaborating with virtuoso British DJ and recording artist Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook) on the music, the show was always intended for the stage, says The Guardian's Alexis Soloski. Now it receives the production it deserves, highliting the excesses of its characters in the extremely appropriate setting of the disco era. The show describes Imelda’s rise to wealth and power from her origins as a “simple country girl” to the wife and political partner of Ferdinand Marcos. It tracks the couple’s turbulent relationship, Imelda’s crucial role in Marcos’s election and her subsequent disillusionment with the relationship.

Ruthie Ann Miles does a great job of portraying the many stages of Imelda’s life and overall, the musical offers a new, interesting and visually pleasing look at a well-known story.

America's favourite EDM fest The Ultra Music Festival have rounded off their last weekend with an impressive line-up.

We expected nothing less than exhilarating, flawless electronic finery from Ultra's uber exciting 2013 2-weekend line-up and neither weekend's artists held back at all as they hit Miami's Bayfront Park full of enthusiasm. Weekend 2's line-up saw a sting of disc jockey legends including double Grammy winner David Guetta, DJ royalty Fatboy Slim, the more recent chart sensation Deadmau5 and the Gold-selling Calvin Harris. Other attendees included Afrojack, who recently remixed Psy's YouTube hit 'Gangnam Style', Dutch sensation Armin Van Buuren, Italian DJ Benni Benassi and out latest electronic music heroes Zeds Dead. Snoop Lion (aka Snoop Dogg) became the highlight of weekend 1, however, and he probably felt right at home having collaborated with many artists on the bill.

Fatboy Slim (AKA Norman Cook) Dons Guy Fawkes Mask At Houses Of Parliament Gig

Fatboy Slim

Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim is sure to have played some bizarre gig in his time but becoming the first DJ to play at the Houses of Parliament? We’re pretty sure Norm never saw that one coming.

With his wife Zoe Ball looking on, Cook entertained the mish-mash of an audience that gathered before his decks, arms aloft and mouthing the words to one of his big-beat favourites: “put your hands up in the air, put your hands up in the air.” A few of the politely reserved audience members even complied with the instructions.

There has never been a strong bond between dance culture and mainstream government parties. Ever since the ludicrous Criminal Justice and Public Order Act of 1994 outlawed “repetitive beats,” it’s been clear that getting together and getting off your head to the soundtrack of a series of dance tunes is not how the government would like your to be spending your time. Or your money. Thanks to a youth charity project named Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, however, MPs are being asked to reconsider the important influence that music can have in inspiring and including young adults.

Fatboy Slim Brings Weapon Of Choice To House Of Commons! Relax, He's Just Playing A Gig...

Fatboy Slim

Fatboy Slim is set to make history by being the first DJ ever to perform inside the House of Commons next month (unless you count the coalition’s endless remixes and edits of their own campaign manifestos, are we right guys?...guys…?)

The DJ, otherwise known as Norman Cook, will be performing in support of the winner of the House Of The House competition which, according to The Telegraph, is a parliamentary-backed scheme that’s encouraging young musicians to get involved in their local communities. Just don’t expect the government to be around when these budding musicians actually grow up and want to start making money from their craft mind. Speaking in a statement, Cook – who can also, um, boast a spell in The Housemartins – said "I've played some exciting and unique places around the world, from Bondi Beach to The Great Wall of China to an Igloo, but playing in the House of Commons might be the most unique to date." Of the initiative, he commented: "Music is a huge part of my life and to give something back in this way is amazing.”

Mike Weatherley, the Conservative MP for Hove and Portslade, added: "House the House is giving young people the chance to have a voice, to be recognised for their endeavours and to engage with their communities to create change from the grassroots up. Last Night A DJ Saved My Life and House The House are great examples of what the whole music industry can achieve in an innovative way.” The show will be taking place on March 6, 2013.
