Four days after her ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins was found guilty of throwing acid in a vicious nightclub attack, Ferne McCann has broken her silence about the development, saying that her “thoughts are with the innocent people” affected by the savage attack.

On Monday (November 13th), Collins was convicted of five counts of Grievous Bodily Harm with intent after throwing acid in East London’s Mangle nightclub over the Easter weekend on April 17th this year, as well as nine counts of Actual Bodily Harm.

Collins is the father of McCann’s baby daughter Sunday, to whom she gave birth just over a week ago, and she’s now reacted to the news of her baby daddy’s conviction.

“Ferne's thoughts are of course with the innocent people caught up in the events at Mangle last April. No one should ever be faced with violence on a night out,” a statement released on 26 year old McCann’s behalf read to The Sun on Thursday (November 16th).

“Having given birth days ago, Ferne is focussing on being the best mother she can be. She long ago accepted that she would be doing this alone and is determined to provide the best possible future for her daughter.”

The 25 year old admitted throwing the liquid in the Dalston nightclub, but had claimed he believed it was a date rape drug. Andre Pheonix, accused of helping to carry out the attack which left two people partially blinded and 22 others injured, was earlier cleared of all charges against him on Monday. He is due to be sentenced in December, and faces years behind bars.

McCann split from Collins immediately after the attack. A friend of hers told MailOnline this week: “She is having a really tough time. She is putting on a brave face to the world but behind the scenes, her family are really worried about her.”
