Former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Ferne McCann has opened up about her decision to have a nose job, after years of online bullying about her appearance. Appearing on ‘This Morning’, Ferne debuted her new look in an emotional interview, where she discussed her lifelong insecurities.

"It is subtle, I wanted it to be subtle I didn't want to change my whole face. That was one of my biggest fears,” Ferne, who still has bruising around the nose area, said. "It was just I think one thing that has bugged me my whole life, especially when I was a teenager. I got teased at school - boys used to call me goose - and that made it become an insecurity.

“For me, when I look in the mirror, from the front it looks very similar to what it was before… but the profile, the bump's gone and it is completely different... Twitter trolls didn't help, but I didn't do it for them.”

Explaining her decision to have the surgery, Ferne added: "I'm not getting it done because I want to get closer to being beautiful. It's not about that. It's just something that I don't like, and every day I look in the mirror, it knocks my confidence…"

During her segment on ‘This Morning’ Ferne got emotional as her mum appeared with a special video message. “All I ever want as a mummy, is for Ferne to be happy and to enjoy her life to the fullest,” Ferne’s mother Gill said.

“So if this meant changing her nose slightly then so be it. I think she’s stunning. This won’t change Ferne as a person. I really admire her and support her courage to go through with this and she’s still my beautiful little girl and always will be.”

The 26-year-old also had some advice for young girls who are dealing with similar insecurities. "I didn't feel ready at 18, I felt too young. The reason I am talking about it and being so honest about it is, I am in the public eye,” she said.

"I guess some young girls might see me as a role model, so I want to be completely open and honest. I think if you're thinking about getting any sort of plastic surgery or going under the knife, and you're a teenager and you feel insecure or awkward and unusual, or you don't have that 'Instagram commercial perfect face’,” she added. “Wait until you are an adult."
