One of nature's most endearing and unique creatures, the lemur, arrived at their African island home of Madagascar several millions of years ago at the time of the dinosaurs through oceanic dispersal (meaning they travelled atop vegetation that was swept out to sea) and have since enchanted the world with their unusual social behaviour, ghostly communicative noises and whimsical movements. However, since the settlement of humans on the island began, lemurs have been at risk of extinction with many unusual species having already died out. There one of nature's most astute survivors and yet there is a desperate struggle to keep their habitat protected for a few more decades.
'Island Of Lemurs: Madagascar' is the heart-warming upcoming nature documentary brought to you by Warner Brothers Pictures and IMAX. It features renowned primatologist and conservationist Patricia Wright on her quest to protect lemur-kind and has been narrated by the Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman ('RED', 'Invictus'). It has been directed by David Douglas ('At the Max') and written by Drew Fellman ('Born to Be Wild'). This tale about one of the world's most extraordinary primates is set to be released in US movie theatres this spring on April 4th 2014.
